Glorifying God Through Art: A Journey of Faith, Healing, and Creativity

In the midst of life’s struggles and hardships, I discovered a profound light that would guide my journey. This chapter of pain, self-discovery, healing, and ultimately, glorifying God through art has taught me more than I might have imagined.

Like everyone, my life has been filled with numerous challenges, yet through each storm, I always knew there was some nameless source of solid strength. What I didn’t know is that was God’s love shining through the darkness the whole time. Developing a real relationship with Jesus has illuminated my path toward grace and authenticity. What started as a battle with doubt and fear has blossomed into a testament of redemption, where I now strive to align my heart, mind, and actions with God’s will. My story is one of transformation, where faith has been my anchor, and the unconditional love of Jesus Christ has become the foundation of my journey.

For over a year, I’ve spent time in my cozy little she-shed nestled in the mountains above Battle Ground, Washington, focusing on healing and creation. Swimming almost every day to heal my legs. This peaceful sanctuary, away from the busyness of life, has offered me the space to reflect, grow, and reconnect with God. As I work on building my dream round yurt home, I have deepened my understanding of both the physical and spiritual realms. The solitude has allowed me to listen to the gentle whispers of the Holy Spirit and to find strength in moments of stillness, bringing clarity and purpose to my journey. The beauty God has shown me this year is beyond words.

I dedicated nearly two decades to leading a team focused on eliminating student and family homelessness in Battle Ground and North Clark County. This work impacted many lives and provided a model that other districts have adopted and in Washington State and is still in operation today. Despite the joy of helping others, the weight of these responsibilities eventually led me to step back, reassessing my own path. In doing so, I embraced a new opportunity for personal fulfillment, trusting that it was God’s guidance that led me to this unexpected chapter.

My journey has been marked by health challenges, painful relationships, and the relentless search for purpose. I spent years chasing achievements, trying to fill the emptiness I felt inside, but it was only through embracing my resilience and connecting with God that I found healing. Through prayer and reflection, I discovered the true source of joy—God’s presence. Even in my darkest moments, His light pierced through, offering hope, comfort, and clarity. This relationship with God is the foundation of my creative journey, as I now capture His divine artistry through photography, sharing the beauty of His creation with others.

In the process of capturing images from my property up on a 1200’ ledge overlooking the stunning landscapes of Battle Ground, Clark County, Portland and the Coastal Range, I realized that God is the true artist, and I am merely His instrument. I hope that these creations, prayerfully paired with scripture, inspire others to reflect on God's boundless love. Each piece reflects the journey of healing and faith that has defined my life, reminding me—and others—that true fulfillment comes from embracing the love of the Creator.

In sharing my story, I invite others to explore the power of faith and creativity in their own lives. I believe that God’s love transcends our imperfections, and it is through that love that we find purpose, joy, and peace. May we all embrace His light, glorify Him through our actions, and discover the profound joy that comes from living a life rooted in faith.
